About 40 percent of GDP in the United States is spent on either the health or financial industries, yet workers themselves are in increasingly dire health and financial straits. The plight of a large segment of the American public should be a siren call to sector leaders to align their business goals with actions that enhance financial health and healthy communities. With pressure mounting on all systems from the COVID-19 pandemic and the American public teetering on the ledge of mental, emotional and financial breakdown it has never before been more important for leaders to understand both the intersection of health and finance but also to have implementable solutions to see us through this unprecedented era. Using the Financial Health Network’s data-driven research and first-hand insights gained from across its broad membership base in multiple industries, Jennifer Tescher, a nationally known expert on the subject of financial health, will provide clarity for how leaders across the healthcare industry can maximize their contributions to the financial and physical health needs of their constituents to deliver better financial and health outcomes in the midst of uncertainty.   Ms. Tescher’s presentation will include an overview of how financial factors contribute to physical wellbeing and how providers can deliver medical services in a way that supports positive financial health;examples that illustrate how the advancement of patient and employee financial health is also an investment in a health system’s own bottom line;and, the connections between the commitment to behavior change that health provider can make in order to design more effective solutions and programs that work together to underscore patient health and reinforce overall financial health.
