Angela Shumaker has worked in the fields of nutrition, health promotion, as well as disease prevention and management for over 13 years. Angela received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science and Kinesiology from California State University Fullerton. In her early career she developed, implemented and evaluated pediatric fitness and nutrition programs for non-profit and private sector organizations including AmeriCorps, YMCA, and Claremont Club. Angela went on to graduate from Loma Linda University with a Master of Public Health in Nutrition. Angela was hired at Kaiser Permanente as a Bariatric Registered Dietitian/ Health Educator. She was the Lead Registered Dietitian for surgical and non-surgical weight management programs and played a key role in the development of the Post-Op Bariatric Clinic. Angela is currently working at Kaiser Permanente as a Senior Consultant for the Center for Healthy Living. Her work focuses on process optimization, workflow management, and performance improvement. In 2018, Angela went through Advanced Human Centered Design Program at Kaiser Permanente and became a certified Practitioner and Facilitator of Human Centered Design. She has been the recipient of the Service Excellence and Team Excellence Awards. For the past seven years, Angela has been an Adjunct Professor for American Public University teaching courses in Nutrition and Sports Nutrition. Angela has presented at numerous conferences on Bariatric Nutrition including the California Dietetic Association, Inland District Dietetic Association, Kaiser Permanente Annual Nursing Symposium, and Obesity Week Poster Presentation.
